- Story Text: Legendary 007 Sean Connery may not be appreciated by the Scottish press for his political activities, but Cannes received him with opened arms as he presented his latest film "Entrapment" at the festival on Friday (May 14).Later tonight, Cannes Film Festival officials will pay Connery a special tribute for his long-term career.
The out of competition action film "Entrapment", tells the story of Robert "Mac" MacDougal (Sean Connery) who has an untarnished reputation as the world's greatest art thief. So, when a priceless Rembrandt is stolen in New York, the evidence points to Mac.
Insurance investigator Virginia "Gin" Baker (Catherine Zeta-Jones) persuades her boss, whose company will lose $24 million on the theft, to let her go after the master criminal.
The strong-willed and resourceful Gin has a plan to entrap Mac, but he proves even more elusive and crafty than she expected.
Mac and Gin form an edgy partnership that takes them from London, via the Western Isles of Scotland, to Kuala Lumpur, the high-tech capital of Malaysia.Together they come up with a daring plan for a multi-billion-dollar-heist tied to the dawn of the new millennium.
In "Entrapment" Mac plays a solitary master thief whose world is turned upside down when he meets the insurance investigator Gin."Entrapment" is Zeta-Jones first role since the "Mask of Zorro".
At the press conference, Sean Connery praised his partner Catherine Zeta-Jones and said she was a great kisser.
She answered by saying "out of a scale of one to ten, he ranks as an eleven plus".
During the film, Catherine Zeta-Jones had to do a lot of acrobatics particularly when she goes through the lasers before stealing an antique mask.
As a trained dancer, she said it helped her performing.
"I must say it was kind of like zen-like for me, it's a kind of cross between ballets and tai-chi and it was great" she said.
Later tonight, the cast of "Entrapment" will walk up the "Tapis Rouge" together with worldwide film stars. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
