- Story Text: The Rainforest Foundation, founded a decade ago to save the rainforest, held it's annual benefit concert in New York City's Carnegie Hall Saturday evening (April 17).Sting, Elton John, and Tony Bennett were among the entertainers.
Entertainers sang their favourite Frank Sinatra songs at Carnegie Hall on Saturday evening (April 17) at the annual fundraising concert for the Rainforest Foundation.
The foundation, started by Trudie Styler and her husband Sting ten years ago, has raised nearly 10 million dollars through these concerts, to support the foundation's mission of protecting the rights and environment of the people who live in the world's rainforests.
Sting, naturally is one of the headliners each year of the concert, as well as Elton John.
This year, Sting sang a song Sinatra was known for -- "Witchcraft."
Elton John, in a comic scene, sang "Love and Marriage" and then placed a white wedding veil on Sting's head and danced with him.
The evening's entertainment continued with songs also from Tony Bennett, James Taylor and Billy Joel. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
