- Story Text: Rumoured to have been the most exclusive party at Cannes this year, American director Spike Lee played host to a string of celebrities on the Croisette on Thursday (May 20) in conjuction with the screening of his new film "Summer of Sam".
To celebrate his new film's screening debut, Lee invited his close friend director Jim Jarmusch to the party.
Jarmusch's film "Ghost Dog: The Way of The Samurai" is hotly tipped to win this year's Palme d'Or.The attendance of actors Forest Whitaker and Isaac de Bankole, stars of "Ghost Dog", ensured they wouldn't miss out on any of the fun.
But the surprise of this year's festival, wasn't the screening of a particular shock movie, it was instead the star attendance of the fest's parties.MTV which is famed for its glittery bashes was lack-lustre, this year the celebrities chose to dance until dawn at the "Summer of Sam" post-Cannes screening. The film which was shown in the "Directors' Fortnight" category drew in all the celebrities.
Relaxed stars were willing to discuss their films in their downtime.
Forest Whitaker was delighted by critics' reactions to "Ghost Dog", one of the favourites for the top award, while Mira Sorvino related to the paparazzi by commenting on her on-set experiences on "Summer of Sam".
Whoever wins the festival prize, was not on the agenda, the only concern for the exclusive guests was to have a good time. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
