- Story Text: Former Spice Girl, Geri Halliwell has continued to draw crowds as she promotes her debut album, "Schizophonic" in the United States.
Despite her solo effort being panned by critics back home in the UK, a crowd lined up for hours in advance along Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles last weekend (June 25th), waiting for their chance to get a glimpse of Halliwell and to have a listen to her first single, "Look At Me".
Spice Girls graduate Geri Halliwell was in Los Angeles Friday (June 25th) as part of the promotional tour across the United States in support of her recent solo effort "Schizophonic".
Fans lined up outside the local Virgin Records outlet for hours before Halliwell's CD signing session, some bringing personal items and posters from her days with her former "girl power" buddies.
"Schizophonic" was produced by Bristol duo Paul Wilson and Andy Watkins, producers of several tracks for the Spice Girls who are said to have been "creatively" closer to Ms.Halliwell.
With the first video from the album, entitled "Look At Me", the idea is to put the varying aspects of Halliwell's public persona in perspective, she says.
"I wanted to write a very honest album, a blueprint of me.
My manifesto was that if I was to die at the end of this album, I wanted to know I'd taken each song to the max," says Halliwell."There were no half measures, it was a real reflection of my personality. It's an emotional roller-coaster.I poured everything into it, it was almost like therapy for me."
Halliwell is looking forward to supporting this solo effort with a world tour next autumn. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
