- Story Text: A new 'soft porn' yarn - "Pantaleon y las Visitadoras"
(Pantaleon and the Visitors) has caused a bit of a stir with Peru's traditionally conservative cinema audiences. The erotic adventure is based on a bestselling novel by Mario Vargas Llosa.
Peruvian film director Francisco Lombardi has presented his latest movie - based on the book by internationally renowned Peruvian author Mario Vargas Llosa.
The film is based on Llosa's novel "Pantaleon y las Visitadoras" (Pantaleon and the Visitors) and combines a mixture of comedy, drama and eroticism. The movie is the first by Lombardi to be filmed entirely in the country's sultry Amazon rivers.
Lombardi's latest film is also the country's most expensive production on a national level with a price tag of two million dollars.
The movie's leading actress is Colombia's most noted soap opera star, Angie Cepeda, who plays "La Colombiana" (The Colombian), a prostitute who is part of the group of visitors with Pantaleon, played by Peru's Salvador del Solar.
Lombardi explained that the movie is an adaptation of Llosa's book that will attempt to explore elements of the literary story that have never been developed.
The story is a narrative based on the adventures of Captain Pantaleon Pantoja who is assigned by the armed forces to organise a battalion of street prostitutes whose goal would be to quench the sexual appetite of soldiers based in remote parts of the country. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
