- Story Text: Actress/director/singer/AND composer Barbra Streisand has received the Cecil B.Demille Award for the year 2000 from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.The award for "outstanding contribution to the entertainment field" will be presented to Streisand at the 57th Annual Golden Globe awards in January next year.
Barbra Streisand, the self-proclaimed "actress who sings", has been awarded the Cecil B.DeMille Award from the Hollwood Foreign Press Association.
In a career spanning four decades, Streisand has been one of the most highly decorated entertainers of the 20th century.
She is one of only a handful of entertainers to garner Golden Globe, Oscar, Tony, Emmy, Grammy and Peabody awards during her career.
The multi-talented actress has starred in 16 films beginning with 1968s "Funny Girl", for which she earned Golden Globe and Oscar honours as Best Actress, and culminating with "The Mirror Has Two Faces" in 1997 for which she recieved a Golden Globe nomination as Best Director.
