- Story Text: The world's greatest sportsmen and women have gathered in Salt Lake City in the United States to compete in the Winter Olympics 2002. But just in case they need to take a break from training, musicians have been flocking to the city to entertain them. Reuters caught up with one of the acts performing this week, the Barenaked Ladies.
The Canadian quintet, the Barenaked Ladies are just one of the acts entertaining the cream of the sports world in Salt Lake City, Utah in the next two weeks. Reuters caught up with the band ahead of their concert last night at the Medals Plaza venue.
While being excited about performing in front of an Olympic crowd for the first time, the band made their feelings clear over the figure skating controversy which had led to the Canadian entry - skaters Jamie Sale and David Pelletier - losing out to the Russians.
'We're here to take it all back tonight. We're going to try capture gold in the rock 'n' roll olympics. (What did you think, was it fair?) Of course not , the judging is ridiculous, any subjective sport it's like I don't know how you can actually do sports in a subjective manner, it's a little bit kind of bizarre to,' they said.
The band are part of entertainment served up every night, other stars will include Sheryl Crow and Nelly Furtado.
