- Story Text: The Mediaeval Babes, a group of former strippers and models now making their living by singing and dancing, has just begun its German tour in Berlin.
Seen by some as the classical answer to the Spice Girls, the nine women aged between 25 and 32 put on a show mixing medieval music with modern dance.
German babae Carmen Schneider does not see a lot of similarities to the Spice Girls: Im thinking why are we being compared to them? Just because we are all women, because we all sing ? Thats where the similarities end.
I believe we have very different creative ideas and we have not been invented by a record label, says Schneider, adding we are our very own product, our own idea.
The former strippers, models, actresses, ballet dancers and fire-eaters have all come together because they share one common interest: their love for the plainsong, the English answer to the clerical songs in the style of Georgian chorals. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
