- Story Text: Despite the rain, one hundred thousand people turned out for the Prince's Trust Party In The Park in London. Hyde Park was filled to bursting with music fans who weathered torrential downpours to see the cream of international music talent perform in the annual charity concert.
Capital FM's 3rd annual Party In The Park in aid of the Prince's Trust is billed as Europe's biggest live music event.
Over forty of the world's top music acts took to the biggest ever stage built for a UK concert to the delight of the 100,000 strong audience.
The concert completely sold out within just six hours of going on sale, and those lucky enough to get tickets were determined to have a good time, even though for much of the day they had to shelter under umbrellas from the heavy rain.
The weather was not enough to dampen the enthusiasm of the performers either, although the wet conditions turned the stage into a skating rink.
Highlights included the first ever solo performance from Posh Spice, Victoria Beckham, who joined Dane Bowers and the Truesteppers to perform their new single, "Out Of Your Mind".
British teenage talent was well represented with performances from Billie Piper, Craig David, Westlife, who shared the bill with young American acts such as Destiny's Child and Christina Aguilera.
But there was also room in the extensive line up for some more seasoned rockers - the remaining members of Queen joined 5ive for a rendition of "We Will Rock You", and Bryan Adams performed both with Chicane and Melanie C. Bon Jovi took a drenched crowd by storm with their version of Lulu's classic sixties hit "Shout".
Although most of the acts had to contend with torrential rain, as the day went on, conditions improved and by the time veteran rock deity Sir Elton John sang some of his best-known hits with the Backstreet Boys, even the sun made an attempt to join the party. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
