    To date, almost 10 million people worldwide have seen the live performance which has grossed approximately US$550,000,000. In addition to the 6,500,000 people who have purchased video versions of the show. Riverdance - The Show The Album, on Celtic Heartbeat/Universal Records, has sold in excess of 2,000,000 CDs worldwide and is certified Gold in the United States.
    The total company of 110, with over 90 performers, includes the remarkable Riverdance Irish dance Trouple; the cream of Irish musicians in the Riverdance orchestra, and an impressive array of talent from Spain, russia and the US, performing to composer Bill Whelan's enchanting music and lyrics, which won him the 1997 Grammy Award for " Best Musical Show Album".
    The history of the show has become part of theatre history since its first appearance a the Eurovision Song Contest. The show then premiered a the Point Theatre, Dublin in February 1995, to unanimous critical acclaim, breaking all box office records during its run. When the Shows transferred to London that June, the reaction was so ovewhelming that the original 10 performances had to be increased to 150 shows.
    Since then, Riverdance - The Show has played to delighted audiences in 4 continents 18 countries, including Australia, Japan, England, Scotland, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Denmark, Austria, Finland, Mexico, Canada and the United States.
    With musice and lyrics composed by Bill Whelan, Riverdance - The Show is the development of an original idea by producer Moya Doherty and was initially performed a the Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin in April 1994.
    Director John McColgan was former Controller of Programmes at TVAM as well as former Head of Entertainment at RTE. Having played a key role in the developing of Riverdance - The Show from an original dance number into an acclaimed stage production, McColgan went on to direct the first video recording of Riverdance - The Show.
    Riverdance - The Show will be performed a the Hong Kong Coliseum which has been reduced to only 4,500 seats to create an initmate theatre style auditorium. A 747 jumbo jet airfreighter will be used to transport the set for Riverdance - The Show which will be one of the largest ever seen in Hong Kong.
