Susan Ward takes the next step in her acting career with her feature film debut "The In Crowd" celebrated its World Premiere in Los Angeles.
In the film, Ward plays Brittany Foster, the wealthy, popular and beautiful social leader of a posh country club for privileged young people. But her beauty quickly fades away when newcomer Adrien Williams, played by Lori Heuring, enters the scene and threatens Brittany's status as the center of everyone's attention.
At first Brittany takes Adrien under her wing, showing her the benefits of the priviledged life and introducing her to other members of her inner circle, including the object of Brittany's affection, tennis pro Matt Curtis, played by Matthew Settle.
But when Matt shows an interest in Adrien, Brittany perceives a threat and reveals a sinister side. Soon, Adrien realizes that Brittany and her pack of friends will do anything to protect their group and the lethal secrets they harbor.
Although this is Lori Heuring's feature film debut as a leading lady, Ward has been playing Meg on the American soap opera "Sunset Beach" for the past several years.
None-the-less, it was a big shift for her to adjust to work on a feature film.
It's also quite a departure in character for Ward. On the television series, her chartacter is heroic and innocent, while Brittany is devious and downright nasty. But Ward relished the chance to play against type, adding that bad girls really do have more fun.
"The In Crowd" was directed by Mary Lambert, whose previous credits include the horror films "Pet Sematary" and its sequel "Pet Sematary II." She also directed many Clio-winning television commercials and music videos for Janet Jackson, Rod Stewart, Sting and most-notably, Madonna.
Lambert was responsible for Madonna's groundbreaking and controversial video for "Like a Prayer."
