- Story Text: Spice Girl Victoria Beckham has made her solo debut by teaming up with Another Level's Dane Bowers to produce the single "Out of Your Mind," released this week. But the duo were almost overshadowed by the presence of Posh Spice's husband, Manchester United footballer David Beckham - as they signed records for scores of fans at a London record store.
The pressure is on for Victoria Beckham, the last of the Spice Girls to pursue a solo career.
Mel B, Mel C, Emma Bunton and Geri Halliwell have all successfully worked independently of the world's biggest girl band and now it's time for Posh to prove herself.
Victoria said she hadn't considered going it alone until next year, preferring instead to spend time with her family.
But, it was while working on the next Spice Girls album (to be released in November) that Posh bumped in to Dane Bowers and the True Steppers, who were working in the studio next door. Bowers asked Victoria to listen to a track he'd been working on and she liked what she heard, offering to do vocals for one of the songs.
Having performed their song for the first time in London's Hyde Park for the Princes' Trust a month ago, Bowers and Beckham have been on a huge publicity drive to promote their first project together.
The pair flew back from Ibiza after showcasing "Out of Your Mind" in one of the island's hottest clubs.
The track was released in the UK this week and features vocals from Bowers who found fame with the four-piece band Another Level - and Victoria Beckham.
It was mixed by the' X-Men' and '10 Below,' to produce a catchy garage single.
The Beckhams and Bowers appeared at a London record store on Monday to meet hundreds of fans, many of whom had queued for hours to meet their idols and to obtain signed copies of the single.
Victoria's soccer-star husband David Beckham almost stole the show by being on hand to sign t-shirts from fans of his club - Manchester United.
And it's thought one reason for his presence could have been because he actually sang backing vocals on "Out of Your Mind" although Victoria refused to confirm the fact, suggesting fans should listen to the single and draw their own conclusions.
Despite the fact that the record shop sold-out all copies of the single within a day, and although Bowers and Beckham say they'd love to get to the number one slot, they're aware of the stiff competition from other chart entries this week.
Victoria's fellow-Spice Girl Mel C is currently top of the UK charts but the hugely popular dance track, Spiller's "Groovejet" has also been released this week and is likely to give both Spice Girls a run for their money.
And as the football season starts all over again, the race for the Premiership title and the number one UK charts position, is well and truly on for Mr and Mrs Beckham. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
