- Story Text: Hundreds of excited fans turned up for the V2000 festival to see All Saints, Semisonic, Travis and an outrageous performance by The Bloodhound Gang.
Tickets for the show cost a whopping £66, but didn't keep the crowds away.
Hundreds of fans turned up last weekend at the V2000 festival to see all star performances including Britain's all-girls band All Saints, Macy Gray, and Travis. The V2000 festival is popular amongst artists and audiences alike because most of all it's a lot of fun.
All Saints' Natalie Appleton says "I like doing every festival to be honest, the ones in Dublin are fantastic. It's sunny. It's great. (The UK audiences?) "UK audience is great, it's home. It's nice to be home, but doing festivals, it's great, all festivals are great." (And a great opportunity to meet other artists?) "Yeah, that's great, that's fun, but I like to hang around with everyone else, meeting everyone, because I like to get a feel for the atmosphere properly. I meet all the bands all the time, I like to just meet everyone."
There weren't only British bands, America sent over Semisonic and The Bloodhound Gang put on an outrageous performance and gave the fans a chance to see them "up close and personal".
Semisonic leadsinger Dan Wilson says "It's better than the US festivals because people are so totally for music.
US festivals are more like, well I'm here to see the skateboard demonstration and there's a band over there, and here everyone's like ... music ... I love it. For us that's pretty great..."I mean part of it is really selfish because I don't get to see all these artists when we're on tour and so it's really exciting to see like 6 or 7 acts I really admire.
It's amazing."
For those who don't know the Bloodhound Gang that well, that's what they have to say about themselves.
"We're kind of like a harrier Steps I think that's probably the best way to put it. We're just...I don't know how to answer that. we're just stupid. If you like records that you can drink to, you got a choice, it's us or The Venga Boys.
Those are the party records. They're not about the artistry, they're not deep like a Posh Spice record. You would pick the Venga Boys or The Bloodhound Gang, so if you've got The Venga Boys, go pick up the Bloodhound Gang."
They say most people understand their poor taste of humour, but there's one country on which it's totally lost - Japan.
"Yeah, it turns out there's a lot of people out there with as poor a taste in humour as us who like to have a good time so it's good. We thought just Americans were very low brow but as it turns out anybody can appreciate that.
Except for maybe the Japanese, they don't get it."
Other performances included Travis, Macy Gray and Moby. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
