- Story Text: Spanish singer Julio Iglesias' son Enrique has taken Istanbul by storm with a concert in the Turkish capital earlier this week.
It's not easy when your father is a world famous singer and you're trying to carve your own niche in the music business.
But Julio Iglesias' son Enrique seems to manage just fine.
He drew the crowds with his concert in the Turkish capital of Istanbul earlier this week. He says his father inspired his work ethics, but not so much his music.
"My father's influence has mainly been in work ethics, not musically so much because musically I grew up with a different style of music. I grew up in Spain till I was 7 years old, then I moved to The States and I grew up with North-Anglo music."
Another thing that he's often asked is whether his good looks have anything to do with his musical success. But that's something, the 25 year-old strongly denies.
"Maybe in 10 years I'll have a beer belly and I won't be able to show it. A lot of people say do you think beauty sells albums - no way - I mean how do you buy albums, what is the major source of buying albums, it's radio. When you go in your car and you turn on the radio, you don't see a face. Oh it's not the system in Turkey? I've never bought an album for a pretty face, I's buy a poster of a supermodel or "Playboy".
I've seen so many beautiful people, much more beautiful than me. Beautiful women and men try to sing. They weren't good, they weren't charismatic. It all comes down to the music. Of course, I'd rather be a beautiful singer with a great voice than an ugly singer with a great voice but still even then it comes down to charisma."
Enrique Iglesias is scheduled to perform in Dubai later this autumn. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
