  • Story Text: Actor David Hasselhoff has left the sunny beaches of Baywatch to play the lead role in the New York Broadway musical Jekyll and Hyde.
    David Hasselhoff earned the "most watched star in the world title" from the Guiness Book of World records for his roles in Baywatch and Knight Rider, but that wasn't enough.
    It was a life long dream for Hasselhoff to star in a Broadway play, but his television career did not allow him the time. Now he's in New York, having traded in the the sun and surf for a tiny Broadway dressing room. Hasselhoff said a lifelong dream had finally come to fruition.
    "This is about facing your fears head on, I started when I was 8 years old in musical theater. This is what I wanted to do when I trained, I studied voice my whole life. I just became so successful on television, I kept trying to get to New York, after my first series I tried to get to NY. I got Young and Restless, I tried to go to New York. I got Knight Rider, I tried to go to New York, I got Bay Watch, finally I said no more, I got to go and do this, " said Hasselhoff.
    Hasselfhoff replaced actor Sebastian Bach with the intention of bringing his own brand of creativity to the diabolical role that involves the split personality of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.
    Hasselhoff said he brought a passion that was missing to the role of Dr Jekyll."I took what I felt was missing, and that is the passion and you have to fall in love with Jekyll and you must listen and I make people listen to this show. It is not about getting up and singing, it is about listening to my words, and if I am doing my part correctly the audience is quiet, and they hardly even applaud, they are just like oh god, what is coming up next," said the actor.
    Hasselhoff fans can see a lot more of the actor in other roles on Broadway in the near future . The actor announced he's also in talks to make a movie, based on his old television show Knight Rider.
