It's the latest screen to stage transfer, and has made the transition quite successfully.
The story of six laid off Sheffield steelworkers who become strippers to earn some money for a friend, has moved to Buffalo, N. Y., where a half dozen unemployed steelworkers bare all to make a few bucks.
Leading man Patrick Wilson plays Jerry Lukowski, the organizer of the Full Monty. Wilson spoke of the experience of sucking in his gut and pulling up his courage for the live performance.
Marcus Neville plays Harold the steel mill's ex-manager, who's terrified of telling his wife that he has lost his job.
She's still spending, and he's still pretending he's employed.
The musical does manage to capture some of the film's charm, going for jazz influences in the music, rather than the typical Broadway musical tunes. The subplot of the two strippers falling in love is left pretty much intact.
The cast includes a few Broadway veterans such as Annie Golden and Kathleen Freeman.
So do the boys take it all off. Lets just say, the secret's in the tasteful lighting. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
