- Story Text: Following close on the heels of Faith Hill and Shania Twain comes country singer Sara Evans with her latest pop - country album "Born To Fly" soaring high in the charts.
It's a third time charm for Country singer Sara Evans. Her fresh sounding country-pop album "Born to fly"
soars high on the Billboard country charts, with the title song debuting in the Top 20 charts a week before the album release.
"We get pitched hundreds and hundreds of songs, when we are listening to songs for an album and so I was very emotional and the title track "Born to Fly" is just a very positive song, very upbeat and it just talks about, you know we all have our own dreams and we are all born to fly in our own way", she said.
For Evans, there were many reasons why her latest disc is the most important she will ever make. For one, the album coincided with the birth of her son Avery, helping her experience a re-birth of her own.
The recent spurt of sexy country divas on the music scene, from Faith Hill to Shania Twain, poses no threat to Evans.
She says it all helps bring in the much needed attention to the country-pop genre.
Evans may not be as daring as the Dixie Chicks or as enamoured with pop as Faith Hill, but Evans does stretch her vocals on the new record.
" I wouldn't have wanted to come back right when the explosion was happening with Faith and the Dixie Chicks because I would have gotten lost. Now they've sort of reached their peak and everyone knows about them and they're looking next", she said.
With "Born to Fly," fans of Evans will hear a bold new voice, a dazzling blend of acoustic instruments and rootsy rhythms, which critics say are a joy to the ear. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
