- Story Text: Rock group 3 Doors Down have got off to a big start, earning themselves a Grammy nomination with their first single, "Kryptonite" - a smash hit in the U.S. The five piece now plan to storm the U.K. and European charts, and are set to kick off on a global tour.
With the help of their hit single, "Kryptonite", 3 Doors Down is staking their claim on the U.S. music charts with their eyes on the U.K. charts, as well.
The band, straight out of Escatawpa, Mississippi, has led the new wave of revitalized rock sweeping the States with their latest album entitled, "The Better Life" selling over four million copies.
The band consists of Richard Lyles, Chris Henderson, Brad Arnold, Matt Roberts and Todd Harrell who met up in high school, and began touring locally .
Then a radio station in Mississippi picked up their song, "Kryptonite" adding it to a playlist, that sparked the interest of major record labels. It was that song that launched and helped them establish a strong national presence, shooting to the number one slot on the Billboard Hot 100. It has also earned the boys their first Grammy nomination.
The lyrics to the song provide another lure, employing a host of Superman images.
The boys from 3 Doors Down say the lyrics portray an image of power, that everyone can relate to. It's about being put on a pedestal.
Brad Arnold wrote the lyrics when he was supposed to be studying for a math class during his senior year in school at Central High School in Escatawpa, Miss.
Their story resonates with the kind of magic and inspiration that made groups like Metallica, Led Zeppelin and Bush mega rockstars. With their popularity growing in gigantic leaps, the down-to-earth boys from 3 Doors Down say its sheer dedication that's got them to the top, and they intend to stay there. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
