- Story Text: Germany's number one pop star, Sasha Alexander is gearing up to storm America with a fresh mix of ballads, pop and rock. His albums have achieved platinum sales in Europe, and he's spent some time on top of the European charts.
After setting Europe on fire with his music, Sasha Alexander, Germany's sexy, talented, number one pop star, is ready to storm American shores.
Sasha spent seven years as a teen idol , with his single, "If You Believe," reaching number 3 on the European charts.
"America is the number one record market in the world, lot of big artists come from America and having success here is the last big step. To have the opportunity to promote my records here, to meet the radio stations, from TV and meet lots of people. Also I know a lot of the famous people, like Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears, because we perform on the same stage in Germany. But here I have to start from the very very beginning", he says.
His albums have gone Platinum in Germany and Gold in Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, and Portugal, making him one of the most recognized faces in Europe.
"In Europe I cannot walk down the streets without being recognized so I like the relative anonymity I still have in some parts of the U.S. But New York is a relatively international city and there are a lot of European tourists here. So it is not so safe for me to walk down the streets here. I guess I am anonymous in say Birmingham Alabama (USA), but not in New York", he says.
Sasha's gospel-choir driven ballad of "We Can Leave The World" was the third successful single for the young pop sensation.
Now he's looking to America and to older audiences with his new album, "Dedicated to", a persuasive mix of ballads, fast and funky tracks and pure pop.
To Sasha, his fans mean everything, earning him a reputation for being approachable and extremely modest. The German hero has proved that the teen idol wave goes beyond the Anglo-American culture, and with a bit of luck, he could be global pop music's next big thing! - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
