- Story Text: Glamour hit the runway at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Thursday (March 8) when 30 models displayed the latest fashions from the biggest names in couture, as a preview, sartorially speaking, of the upcoming Oscars.
Academy Awards fashion director Patty Fox previewed the attire and accessories expected to be worn by the nominees, presenters and guests attending this year's Oscar ceremony.
Visiting the top New York designer showrooms in February, Fox selected gowns from some of the biggest names in fashion to feature in the preview.
Designers included in the preview were Dolce & Gabbana, Pamela Dennis, Richard Tyler, Bob Mackie, Vera Wang and others. Noting the importance of fashion on the red caper Fox commented, "It has become the biggest designer race. In fact, the red carpet has really become the couture cat walk of fashion".
Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2000 will be presented on March 25, 2001, at the Los Angeles Shrine Auditorium. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
