- Story Text: Veteran rockers The Eagles will reunite for a European tour this year and may release their first studio album in 20 years, according to group members Don Henley, Glenn Frey, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit.
"The Eagles looks good to all four of us. We like the idea, we like what we might be able to do in the next couple of years," Glenn Frey told Reuters.
"We really like the challenge of trying to make a studio album. Somewhere deep inside, we know we can do it, it's just simply a matter of just getting together," said Frey, about the possibility of an album to cap the tour.
The Eagles last reunited in 1994 for their hugely successful "Hell Freezes Over" tour, named that since many of the bands members vowed never to get back together after breaking up in 1981. That tour included a number one live album by the same name.
The Eagles' "Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975" remains the top selling album of all time, according the Recording Industry Association of America. Three-fourths of the Eagles came together recently in Los Angeles during a solo concert of singer-drummer Henley. The audience exploded when Henley was joined on-stage by singer-guitarist Glenn Frey and singer-bassist Timothy B. Schmit for the Eagles classics "The Long Run" and "Hotel California." The duo returned for Henley's second encore, when Schmit sang lead on his "I Can't Tell You Why" and Frey stepped forward for "Peaceful Easy Feeling."
A new studio album would be the group's first since 1979's "The Long Run." "I think we have a pretty good shot this time just because of the attitude of the band in general," said group member Schmit.
No replacement has been named for guitarist Don Felder, who was fired earlier this year by Henley and Frey and has since filed a wrongful termination suit.
The first dates of the Eagles tour have been announced, with more expected soon. The tour is expected to kick off June 1 in Helsinki, followed by dates in Stockholm, Oslo, London, Manchester, Berlin and Birmingham. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
