  • Story Text: Nicole Kidman made an appearance at New York's famed department store, Bloomingdale's in support of her latest film, "Moulin Rouge."
    It was a little bit of old Paris on the modern day streets of New York when some two dozen women kicked their heels doing the famed Can-Can at New York's Bloomingdale's department store.
    But it wasn't the Can-Can that brought out the crowd, but the star of the upcoming film, "Moulin Rouge," Nicole Kidman. Kidman, straight out of the headlines from her recent separation from one of Hollywood's hottest leading men, Tom Cruise. She was accompanied on stage by the the director of the film, Baz Luhrmann.
    In an elegant dress, poised and confident, Kidman introduced the Can-Can dancers, "In "Moulin Rouge there's a dance and we have Caroline O'Conner whose in the film with me whose come all the way from Australia and she's here to show you a little Can-Can with some other dancers from the "Moulin Rouge."
    Bloomingdale's draws incredible crowds every winter to its well known window displays. But in support of the film "Moulin Rouge" and a section of the store that will feature Moulin Rouge attire, the famed department store has decorated the windows with clothes, hosiery and jewels that reflect the early 20th century heyday of the Parisian nightclub.
    Proceeds from a "Moulin Rouge" T-shirt sold at the store will go to support Ms. Kidman's charity, UCLA Women's Reproductive Cancer Program.
    It wasn't just clothes that were being shown in the windows. A beautiful model was wearing the diamond neckpiece that Kidman sports in the film. That piece of jewelry will be auctioned off at Christie's in their upcoming "Magnificent Jewels" auction this October. The neckpiece is expected to fetch somewhere between $700,000 and $1,000,000 (U.S.) dollars.
    "Moulin Rouge" opens this summer and features music from some of today's hottest musicians including, Christina Aguilera, Beck Lil Kim and others.
