- Story Text: Tom Cruise was among the celebrities who turned out in Los Angeles on Sunday for a carnival and picnic benefiting a pediatric AIDS charity.
More than 100 celebrities including Cruise, Dustin Hoffman, Minnie Driver and Courtney Cox came out to help raise funds for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
It was the 12th year for the event and raised more than $2 million (US) for the foundation. The event was set to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the first reported cases of AIDS.
Celebrities manned booths and played games such as the Dunking Tank, Sizzling Chicken and Ducky Dash. Cruise played the victim on more than one occasion, sitting in the dunking tank while fellow stars tried to hit the bulls eye which would send him into water.
Cruise and Hoffman were among those who read stories to children. The day-long carnival ended with a performance by the all girl string quartet "Bond." - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
