  • Story Text: It's the first time in eight years that she's entertained her adoring fans in London, and Madonna was determined to give them something worth waiting for in this final leg of her European tour.
    Tickets for Madonna's six Earl's Court shows were sold out within hours of going on sale and changed hands for many times their face value. One man was offered a seat for a mere £500.
    The queen of pop describes what she offers as "a theatrical presentation of my music." Country and western, flamenco, and the circus are whipped up with violence, guns and lots of gyrating.
    Fans across Europe have been dazzled by the sheer scale of her stage shows since the Drowned World Tour opened in Barcelona in June. A number of devotees have skipped around the continent to catch her in every different venue, not bothered that the display is identical for each new audience.
    Eight trucks have hauled more than 100 tons of equipment to the west London venue which holds 18,000.
    More than 200 people were involved in putting on each show on the oversized 4,900 square feet stage.
    The tour, Madonna's first in eight years, features highwire stunts, a mechanical bull and a volley of cannon blasts.
    It all accompanies recent hits from albums like "Music"
    and "Ray of Light" mixed in with a few old family favourites like "Holiday" and "La Isla Bonita".
    The last London performance is on July 12th.
