- Story Text: Nicolas Cage memorialised his hands and feet at the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, Tuesday (August 14), celebrating 20 years in the movie industry and the release of his new movie "Captain Corelli's Mandolin."
Nicolas Cage sunk his hands and feet in wet cement today in the Chinese Theater forecourt, much as he says he tried to do with the role he took in the upcoming romantic war saga "Captain Corelli's Mandolin"
"I used to come here when I was a kid,'' Cage told his fans today. "And I'd look at all my heroes, like Humphrey Bogart, and their hands and feet and thought about `Well, God, wouldn't that be great if one day that could happen, and you've all made it happen,'' he said after plopping hands-first into the gray, gruel-like substance.
Cage got some support from family members and friends, including girlfriend Lisa Marie Presley, Jim Carrey and Jay Leno.
Even though he won an Oscar for his performance in "Leaving Las Vegas" Cage continues to grow as an actor, saying "I still see myself very much as a student of acting."
In the future Cage would like to tackle a musical or animated voice. The Italian-American actor was born Nicolas Coppola in Long Beach 37 years ago. The latest Cage film " Capital Corelli's Mandolin" opens Friday, August 17 in North American theatres after huge success at the European box-office. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
