- Story Text: Paul McCartney has made a surprise appearance at the Venice Film Festival, to attend the screening of a short film which features his voice and music.
McCartney and his fiancee Heather Mills arrived at the screening as the rain continued to fall in Venice. They posed for photographers earlier, with Paul playing air guitar on his rolled-up umbrella.
McCartney, 59, had been due to attend the premiere of "Tuesday," a 13-minute animated movie he helped produce, on Monday, but canceled at the last minute. Perhaps more appropriately, he turned up to see "Tuesday" on Tuesday.
The film, which follows the strange and magical events that unfold in a small American town, features not only McCartney's voice but that of Dustin Hoffman.
It has also been reported recently that the former Beatle is backing a campaign by PETA, an animal rights group, to stop children drinking milk, claiming that it makes them "fat and spotty". PETA are against dairy farming on moral grounds and to emphasise their point they are giving out Pokemon style cards to children, showing anti-milk characters and slogans.
McCartney and Mills announced their engagement in London in July and are expected to marry soon.
