  • Story Text: Two mega-stars Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith made a guest appearance at the Grand Rex in Paris to promote their latest blockbuster film Men in Black II.
    Film stars Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith playing respectively, agents Kay and Jay are back again for more battle with aliens in Men in Black II which premiered in Paris on Thursday night (July 18).
    The film is a sequel to the 1997 hit blockbuster about alien-seeking agents who avert an intergalactic disaster of epic proportions.
    During a routine investigation, agent Jay (Will Smith) discovers a sinister plot by Serleena, (Lara Flynn Boyle) a Kylothian monster, to take over the planet. In order to save his comrades from destruction Jay must call his former partner, Agent Kay (Tommy Lee Jones) back into service.
    Unfortunately Agent Kay is now a civilian working for the U.S.
    Postal Service, with no recollection of his heroic past. He's taken the time to enjoy the finer things in life, such as his wife's home made cookies. Its been four years since Agent Kay has worked for Men In Black, the secret government agency that regulates all things alien on earth.
    Its up to Jay to convince his long-time mentor that he has a job to do - to protect the earth from the scum of the universe before it's too late. Upon arrival, Film director Barry Sonnenfeld said that since the first Men in Black was a big hit, he thought it was time to do Men in Black 2 with the same cast.

    "Well, everyone seemed to like the first one (Men in Black) and I really missed working with Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith and I thought it was about time to do another one with those guys together", he said as he arrived for the premiere.
    Sonnenfeld also stressed that Men in Black II was funnier than the first movie and he pointed out that Will Smith and Tommy Lee were also greater. "I think its very funny, its funnier than the first movie and Will and Tommy are greater and we've got a talking dog so what could be bad ?", he added.
    As soon as film star Will Smith showed up, frantic fans greeted him, shook his hand, took pictures, and asked for autographs. "Its very funny, the movie is very funny. We have special effects and talking dogs and big worms and I think people are going to love it", he said upon arrival.
    Smith praised Tommy Lee Jones and said he had a great time acting with him. "He is the best man, you know, just a serious professional, everything which comes out of his mouth is hilarious and we had a great time making it."
    But above all, the star on Thursday night (July 18) was Frank the dog dressed in tuxedo. Questioned by a Reuters reporter, he ignored the question and just barked. Men in Black II opens in France on Wednesday August 7, 2002.
