- Story Text: Country music's little darling LeAnn Rimes is all grown up on her sixth and latest release, "Twisted Angel," an album she says shows her growth as an artist.
In the Spring of '96, an angelic voiced 13 year old singer called LeAnn Rimes arrived on the country music scene just as it was looking to reinvent itself.
Her music and voice drove country music fans wild, with her singles climbing to the top of the Billboard charts. With a combined sales figure of over 20 million records and 23 hit singles, and a Grammy for "Best new artist," Rimes became one of the youngest country superstars in the history of the genre. Now she releases her latest album Twisted Angel, which she says reflects her growth over the last 6 years. Says Rimes, "As a child I grew up listening to different types of music. At 13 or 14 I don't think I really had a style. As I have grown up and evolved as a person, so has my music. I think it shows on this album. I have had the life experience to write some of my own music."
The album carries a powerful title, which gives a nod to her angelic persona with the twist being that she is now a woman.
So what's the real LeAnn About ? "I think there are two very different sides to me. the angel is the child that everyone saw grow up in front of their eyes and the twisted part is the human being who has grown into a woman and an adult and has gone through life, made mistakes and has written about it on this record."
Does Rimes plan to follow in fellow singers Britney Spears and Jennifer Lopez's footsteps and make a move to Hollywood? Says LeAnn," My music is really taking first priority at the moment, but acting is something I want to get into and I am looking at a couple of things right now, so hopefully in the next couple of years."
Her eight studio album since her stunning debut in 1996, "Twisted Angel" shows Rimes growth as an artist and her willingness to explore new territory, putting her in a unique new bracket.
