- Story Text: Supernatural thriller, "Final Destination 2" follows in the scary footsteps of the original as the only survivor of a plane crash who lives in constant fear that Death is coming to claim another victim.
Final Destination 2 picks up from where the original film left off, as Clear Rivers( Ali Larter) manages to outwit death and survive the crash of Flight 180. Locked away by her own choice in the perceived safety of a psychiatric hospital, Clear believes that Death is seeking revenge.
But crazy she is not, for death indeed is heading down suburban Route 23, towards her. Meanwhile Kimberly Corman( A.J. Cook) watches helplessly as a logging truck careens out of control and loses its deadly payload setting off a horrific chain reaction that leaves many dead including herself. But it's only a premonition of what is to come. So what prompted the young actress to get involved with the film. Says Cook, "I got involved in it because I really liked the first one. I thought it was an original idea. It was a huge success. A sleeper hit and I liked the fact that there were two strong female characters in it. That is rare in Hollywood."
Actor Michael Landes plays a young police trooper who gets involved with the unlucky group of youngsters who are fighting to stay alive. Says Landes,
"Maybe you think it will be one thing. The audience participates and says it will be that. It'll be the fire. But it will be something else that gets them."
Ali Larter, of "Legally Blonde" fame returns to lead the ensemble cast in her role as Clear Rivers. Initially she was reluctant to return to a role she played three years ago, but was won over by the script and story line. Says Larter, " When we did the first one I don't think any of us expected it to be such a big hit. People just loved going to see it and they told their friends about it, which was really cool and years went by.I heard rumors but I think it took so long because they wanted to develop a script and a story which was better than the first one."
Director David R. Ellis says the film has a strong view on the subject of death. Says Ellis, "The story is death coming back to clean up its mistakes. There were some people from flight 180 that he did not get and now he is coming back just to clean that up and all the people in the film are somehow related to flight 180."
So what's the message in the film, according to Larter "
You think about when you cheat death, will it come back for you and is there a time when you are supposed to go and you know, I think that is fun," says Larter.
