- Story Text: Rockets fired by Hizbollah guerrillas in Lebanon wounded at least seven people in northern Israel on Friday (August 11, 2006).
More than 55 rockets so far have landed across northern Israel on Friday.
Rockets slammed directly into houses in the towns of Safed and Kiryat Shemona.
Hizbollah has fired over 3,580 rockets since July 12, when the group captured two Israeli soldiers in a cross border raid and Israel responded with a massive ground and air offensive.
Rockets have paralysed life in a region that is home to one million people, driving one third of them to flee while many others are holed up indoors or in bomb shelters.
One man named Naftali had a message for the Prime Minister after surveying the damage to his home.
" Olmert I am addressing you now, hit the button and you can accomplish everything. You have the people around you. You can hit Syria and Bush can deal with Iran. That's it."
Elsewhere, scores of Israeli Arabs left their northern Israeli towns and villages to flee Hizbollah rockets.
"The children are unable to play outdoors so we are forced to take the out of town to bring comfort to them," said one of the residents just before driving away to a safer place.
In the coastal city of Tel Aviv, Israeli mourners gathered to bury a soldier who was killed during Israel's offensive in southern Lebanon. Up north a woman burst into tears after a rocket slammed into her house. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
