- Story Text: Israeli side Hapoel Tel Aviv will go into their Champions League Group B clash with Germany's Schalke 04 on Tuesday (November 2) without injured striker Etey Shechter, the club said on Monday (November 1).
Shechter, who is suffering from a leg muscle tear and has undergone treatment will miss the match in order to be fit for Hapoel's next fixture in the league at the weekend.
The influential Shechter scored Tel Aviv's only goal in their three matches in the Champions League group stages so far, in which they have lost against all their opponents. He hit an injury-time consolation goal in the 3-1 loss to Schalke in Germany.
Hapoel Tel Aviv coach Eli Guttman said his team would have to rely on other players in place of Shechter.
"Of course Etey Shechter is a key player for Hapoel Tel Aviv, but we showed quality in the last game against Beer Sheva in the league. We played with two strikers, Toto Tamuz and Ben Sahar and they brought excellent performance and the football of Hapoel Tel Aviv is a team game football, so even Shechter is missing, I hope that Hapoel Tel Aviv will show good performance," said Guttman.
Hapoel are bottom of Group B with no points. Olympique Lyon lead the group with nine, ahead of Schalke who have six and Portugal's Benfica on three. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
