Palestinian militants launched a rocket at southern Israel on Monday (May 7), directly hitting a house.
The makeshift rocket slammed into a house in the Israeli town of Sderot, causing damage. No casualties were reported.
"We are just asking for secure rooms, we are like sitting ducks, there is no owner, no country, no government, no mayor, there is nobody -- all we want is a security room, that's all," said the owner of the house, Hana Daniash.
Palestinian gunmen have continued to fire crude rockets at Israel from Gaza despite a ceasefire called in late November, but casualties from these attacks have been rare.
The rain of rockets in recent days come as public calls for Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to step down gained momentum following the release of an official report sharply criticising his handling of last year's war in Lebanon.
"They have to be judged not for the second Lebanon war but for the present, today, now as an entire town is abandoned, we don't have a prime minister, no mayor....nothing," one of the neighbours cried out. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
