- Story Text: Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip launch four rockets into southern Israel, wounding at least two people. Palestinian militants on Wednesday night (June 20) launched four rockets into southern Israel, wounding at least two men.
One of the rockets landed in the southern Israeli town of Sderot, wounding one man, Israeli rescue service reported. It added that a second rocket landed near a gas station at Kibbutz Nir Am, wounding another man.
The injured were evacuated to hospitals for further treatment.
Earlier on Wednesday, Israel launched air strikes targeting rocket launchers in the northern Gaza Strip, the first air strikes since Hamas seized control of the territory last week.
Palestinian militants had earlier fired at least one makeshift rocket into southern Israel from the Gaza Strip, the army said. Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility.
An army spokeswoman said the launchers were loaded with rockets when they were hit. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
