- Story Text: Poland's defence minister signs military cooperation deal with Israeli defence minister during official visit. Polish Defence Minister Aleksander Szczyglo signed a military cooperation deal with his Israeli counterpart, Amir Peretz on Monday (March 26).
There was a full military ceremony at Israel's defence ministry in the coastal city of Tel Aviv, where Peretz greeted Poland's defence minister ahead of a meeting to sign a deal on military cooperation.
"I want to thank the Polish defence minister for announcing unequivocally that the war against terror is a matter which is considered by Poland, as a state and the perception; they too perceive matters the way we do here," Peretz told reporters after the military ceremony.
"I want to say that today's agreement signing is actually the completion of a process which has been going on for 18 years, if I remember correctly, between Israel and Poland and the agreement would contribute and tighten military cooperation between Israel and Poland," said Szczyglo.
Israel and Poland have boosted efforts in recent years to strengthen bilateral relations in politics, economics and culture. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
