- Story Text: Israel's monkey park draws spectators to get a closer glimpse at the golden coloured spectacled langur baby monkey. A ginger coloured baby spectacled langur stood out in the leaf monkey's playground at Israel's monkey park on Wednesday (July 11).
The new-born spectacled langur is usually born with golden-yellow fur to draw female's attention. This still unnamed little charmer drew attention from spectators who came from afar to get a closer look at the distinguished creature, which will eventually turn grey like its parents.
The furry creature was typically cuddled by the other dark haired female spectacled langurs to protect it from any harm. The mother shared responsibilities of rearing the young with the other females of the harem.
Living in groups of up to about 35 members, these spectacled langurs are very territorial and they use loud calls to keep other troops away.
Female spectacled langurs are pregnant for six to seven months and usually give birth to one infant. They live to be 20 years old in the wild and 29 years of age in captivity. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
