- Story Text: About 150 Israelis tucked into bed as the swirling sounds of a live orchestra filled a Tel Aviv concert hall Monday (December 11) evening.
The audience at the concert, organised by an international mattress company, did not have to wait to get home before they could gradually fall asleep to the sounds of some of the most famous classical music pieces.
"Morgenstemning" ("Morning Mood") from the "Peer Gynt Suite", composed by Nowegian-born Edvard Greieg, was chosen as the opening piece for the two-hour long concert, which attracted the 'who's who' of Israeli cultural life.
The celebrities were accommodated on 144 automatically-adjustable beds, lined up in one of Tel Aviv's biggest concert halls. The guests took off their shoes and snuggled under fluffy blankets as the lights dimmed.
"You can take music everywhere with you, that's what I think, in all conditions," said Israeli singer Ricky Gal.
"To listen for a concert, a classic concert, and lying down, relaxing in such an amazing bed is actually a dream come true," said Israeli chef Motti Alon.
Some of the sleepy guests couldn't help but fall asleep to the soothing sounds of the orchestra, joining in with sounds of their own. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
