- Story Text: Two rockets exploded in a southern Israeli town near the Gaza border on Thursday (March 21), a day after U.S. President Barack Obama arrived on a three-day tour.
One resident living close to where one of the rockets landed said he thought the sound of a warning siren was a mistake.
"We woke with the strange whistle of the rocket. We thought the alarm was a mistake. We didn't realise that something like this would happen, it was very strange. Then we heard a second whistle and then we realised it was a Kassam or something like that, something we are used to," said Partush Poron.
One of the rockets damaged the yard of an Israeli home but there were no immediate reports of injuries.
There were also no immediate claims of responsibility from Gaza.
Obama's second day in the Middle East will include a visit to Ramallah in the West Bank for meetings with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas as he seeks to encourage both the Israelis and Palestinians to restart peace negotiations which have been stalled since 2010. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
