- Story Text: Tel Aviv commuters pulled-over and rushed for shelter at the side of the road Thursday (July 31), as air raid sirens sounded throughout the city.
One family was seen rushing toward a line of trees to take cover in a small park near the roadway.
It was the latest of a series of alerts due to hostilities between Israel and militants in Gaza, as Israel continues a military offensive in the coastal Palestinian enclave aimed at curbing missile attacks and closing tunnels used by militants.
Four rockets struck the Israeli town of Sderot earlier on Thursday (July 31), including one location near a school. Two soldiers were reported lightly injured, and several civilians suffered panic attacks. Three civilians have been killed by Palestinian shelling in Israel since the conflict began.
Gaza officials say at least 1,372 Palestinians, most of them civilians, have been killed in the battered territory and nearly 7,000 wounded. Fifty-six Israeli soldiers have been killed in Gaza clashes and more than 400 wounded. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
