- Story Text: Question - how do you treat a lion with suspected brain damage.
Answer.Send it to hospital for a CATscan.
Shiraz, a seven-month-old lion cub from a zoo near Tel Aviv,
was resting on Wednesday (February 3) after a CATscan x-ray its brain.
"We found that it wasn't brain damage but damage to the bones around
the brain," Dr Meir Feibel of Tel Hashomer hospital told Reuters.
He said Shiraz would now have to either be treated with
medicine or, if the lion cub failed to respond, would undergo surgery.
Dr Feibel said the original reason for scanning Shiraz was to provide
a comparison of the cubs brain with that of the animal's younger
brother, Simantov, who had started to stumble as he walked around
his zoo pen, and and seemed have become dis-orientated.
