More Christmas celebration have been cancelled following the violence in the occupied territories of the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Festivities were short lived in Nazareth where the traditional sights of Santa Claus and Christmas shoppers were apparent on December 22. But on December 23, Nazareth followed Bethlehem's example by cancelling all public cancellations except religious ceremonies. Previously traders predicted the troubles and would not disrupt business, although some tourists said the atmosphere was tense. Nazareth Council said there would be no more decorations or music in the streets, no Santa Claus, festivities or presents for children in local schools. The cancellations come at a time when the tourists industry expected 50,000 people to visit the region, mainly for the Christmas celebrations.
