- Story Text: The Lebanese border village of Kfar Kila on Wednesday (23 July) counted its losses after an early-morning Israeli raid.
An Israeli raiding party attacked the village in strength. Eyewitnesses reported they carried off several villagers after a fierce three-hour battle.
A military spokesman in Beirut said a Lebanese woman and a child were wounded. Two houses in the village were blown up.
The Israelis later admitted that seven of their soldiers were wounded in the raid.
Local residents said the Israelis approached the village on foot from two directions and came under fire as they entered the village.
The raiders tried to force their way into homes, searching for people named in a list they were carrying.
An Israeli helicopter carried off their casualties. Israeli planes flew over the village later but did not drop any bombs.
