- Story Text: Israel's Prime Minister, Yitzhak Rabin, has accused the world community of standing by while a Christian community was threatened by Moslems in Lebanon's civil war. He was a the time addressing 250 Jewish leaders from 18 countries at an International Israel appeal meeting at the Jerusalem Hilton Hotel.
The Prime Minister said, "it is shameful for the world and especially the Vatican to keep silent in vie of he massacre of the Christian community in Lebanon by intolerant Moslems".
Mr. Rabin again stressed that "Israel will not be able to remain inactive if it is threatened by certain developments that may take place in Lebanon".
He said, "the Arabs know exactly what those developments are and I hope they will think twice before doing anything so that Israel will not lose its patience."
He referred to the present Middle East debate in the United Nations Security Council and said Israel was not expecting justice from the U.N. He called for the reconvening of the Geneva peace conference under the original mandate.
The Israeli Prime Minister's statement came on the eve of his departure on a ten-day visit to the United States aimed at restoring full harmony to Israeli-American relations which have been strained in the past year.
