- Story Text: Hundreds of women volunteers from throughout Israel have offered to help the Defence Force in reconditioning, repairing, cleaning and repacking ammunition.
Because of a manpower shortage in the country, the Defence Force has been only too glad to receive the additional working hands at their bases.
The women receive dirty, rusty bullets returned from the front, belts for heavy machine guns which have become defective, mortar shells and artillery shells.
Once they overcome their initial fear of working with such objects, they recondition them at tremendous savings for the Defence Force.
The serve another major purpose, a morale booster for the troops at camp who are themselves very often seen taking a cup of coffee and a piece of cake to the women volunteers, almost all of whom are past middle-age.
SYNOPSIS: These women are arriving at ammunitions factory in Israel to work as volunteers to reconditioning, repairing, cleaning and re-packing ammunition. Because of a manpower shortage in the country, the Defence Force is only too happy to receive the additional working hands. The women take dirty, rusty bullets returned from the front, belts for heavy machine gene which have become defective, mortar shells and artillery shells. Once they overcome their initial floor of working with such objects, they recondition them at tremendous savings for the Defence Force.
Apart from the invaluable assistance the women are giving to the Defence Force by helping to recondition ammunition, they also serve in another useful way. They keep a keen eye on the soldiers at the base and bring them in line if they get out of hand. The women are usually past middle age and many of the soldiers are in their teens. So the women volunteers virtually mother the soldiers who in turn throat the women with the respect they reserve for grand-mothers.
