- Story Text: 13.7 percent of Israelis voted by 10:00 pm (local time) in the country's general election to 120-seat Knesset, according to Israel's Central Election Committee.
Voter turnout was 2.7% higher compared to 2013 election, at the same time.
More than 10,000 polling stations across Israel were open to accommodate almost six million eligible voters in the country of eight million people.
Israeli voter turnout is traditionally very high-between 60 and 80 percent. During the 2013 election, turnout was 67 percent.
Israelis are choosing among 25 party lists of candidates. Parties must meet a threshold of at least 3.25 percent of the vote to qualify for seats in the Knesset.
No party has won a majority of seats since Israel's first election in 1949.
