- Story Text: There was an uneasy peace on the Israeli-occupied West Bank of the Jordan on Monday (15 March) following further violent outbreaks on Sunday (14 March).
Israeli soldiers fired rifles into the air to disperse rioting school children in the towns of Ramallah and El-Birra on Sunday.
According to residents, the youngsters ran through the streets of the towns breaking shop windows and attacking shopkeepers.
They also burned vehicle tyres in the main streets and threw stones at soldiers.
Sunday's violence followed similar scenes in Ramallah and several other West Bank towns last week.
Pupils at schools in the town of Nablus are continuing their strike which has now been in progress for more than ten days.
Many students are also staying away form classes on the towns of Tulkarm, Jericho and Jenin.
