- Story Text: Mrs. Golda Meir, Israel's Prime Minister, held a reception at the Knesset Building on Wednesday evening (3 November) in honour of the four African Presidents attending an investigation of the Middle East conflict for the Organization of African Unity. They are President Senghor of Senegal, President Mobutu of Zaire (formerly Congo Democratic Republic) President Ahidjo of Cameroun, and President Gowon of Nigeria. The reception was held after the first two working sessions, and after talks with Mrs. Meir and other Israeli officials. The African leaders will continue this new peace initiative with a visit to Cairo to hear Egypt's views, before presenting a preliminary report to the Heads of State of ten African countries on November 10, and returning or further talks in Israel.
SYNOPSIS: The Knesset Building in Jerusalem where Israeli Prime Minister, Mrs. Golda Meir, held a special reception on Wednesday evening in honour of four visiting African Presidents, Presenting the Organisation of African Unity. There were many guests to be introduced to President Mobutu of Zaire, President Gowon of Nigeria, President Ahidjo of Cameroun and President Senghor of Senegal.
The four leaders are investigating both sides of the Middle East situation in a new peace initiative from the O.A.U.
The Presidents met many guests during their break from a series of working sessions. They are to visit Cairo before presenting a preliminary report to an O.A.U. meeting on the 10th of November, and returning to Israel for further talks.
