- Story Text: It's a little more than five years ago since Israel occupied large areas on the West Bank of the River Jordan. Since then, the district has from time to time been a source of irritation to Israel as her military administration squashed anti-Israel activities.
Nevertheless, Israel has been slowly consolidating her presence and position on the West Bank, and by all appearances, successfully.
The latest indicator of Israel's apparent successful policy on the West Bank came this week with the staging of an agricultural fair near Nablus. Under Israel's "summer visit" scheme, more than fifty-thousand visitors, including Arabs from Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Egypt, visited the agricultural fair and exhibition.
And the flow of visitors, according to correspondents, continued unabated for the duration of the two day event.
More than sixty Israeli firms, and seventy-eight Arab organisations, were represented in displays at the fair. The ??? was on agriculture with some of the most modern machinery available on display.
There were also instructional sessions at which farmers, including Arabs, were told of development in experimental crop growing; and at which they were taught to handle modern tractors and rotating ploughs.
