- Story Text: Denmark's Foreign Minister K.B. Andersen discussed the Middle-East situation with Israel's President Zalman Shazar and Foreign Minister Abba Eban in Jerusalem on Monday(18 December). Mr. Andersen's Israel talks follow his recent visit to Cairo where he met Egyptian leaders.
Mr. Andersen was heading a Danish fact-finding mission, including Denmark's Ambassador to israel, Sivald Kristensen and the Political Director of the Danish Foreign Office, Mr. Oldenburg. The delegation talked with President Shazar at his home before travelling to the Foreign Office to meet Mr. Abba Eban.
Mr. Andersen told reporters he had found both Egyptian and Israeli leaders had shown a will for peace.
SYNOPSIS: The home of Israel's President Shazar in Jerusalem was the scene of initial talks over the Middle-East situation with a foreign Office delegation from Denmark. Danish Foreign Minister Mr. K.B. Andersen, accompanied by Denmark's Ambassador to israel, Sivald Kristensen, was greeted by president Shazar.
Following brief talks with the President, the Danish officials were driven to the Israeli Foreign Office Mr. Andersen met Israeli Foreign Minister, Abba Eban.
Ambassador Kristensen was then greeted by Mr. Eban. The Danish Foreign Minister was anxious to discuss Israel's view on the Middle-East situation. This meeting follows Mr. Andersen's recent visit to Cairo where he sought the views of Egyptian leaders. Later the Danish Foreign Minister told reporters that both Egypt and Israel had shown a will for peace.
