- Story Text: Moslem militant guerrillas in Lebanon fired Katyusha rockets into northern Israel early on Friday (May 5), slightly wounding several people.
Israeli security sources said several rockets slammed into northern Galilee several hours after Israel Independence Day ended, marking 47 years of statehood.
Injuries were minimal, with two people going into shock and a third with minor scratches. Property damage was slight.
Lebanon's pro-Iranian Hizbollah group claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was retaliating for Israel's shelling which killed two civilians in south Lebanese villages on Thursday.
The two civilians, including a four-year-old girl, were killed in the shelling of villages on a mountain range used by Hizbollah for attacking Israeli troops.
The Israeli army said guerrillas had bombed positions and villages in south Lebanon in the days before the Katyusha attack.
