- Story Text: INTRO: The revolutionary Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) has threatened worldwide attacks against Israeli and United States (U.S) targets.
The PKK accuse the two countries of supporting Turkish massacres against the Kurds.
-------------------------------------------------------------------- At a press conference in Lebanon's capital Beirut on Monday (June 2), PKK central committee member Halil Atas said the PKK planned attacks against tourist centres in Turkey. He warned tourists of the dangers of spending their holidays there.
He said: "We will never attack civilians. The military action the PKK will hold is against the Turkish military forces. We are warning tourists and saying it is dangerous for them to go there.
This doesn't mean we will kill them. We are only warning them." Speaking as Turkey's pursuit of PKK guerrillas in northern Iraq entered its nineteenth day, Atas urged countries in the region to take a decisive stance in order to bring the Turkish "barbaric attacks" to an end.
Atas warned the PKK's opponents that his party would not flinch from violent confrontation. He said. "We ask those fighting us to stop the massacre or we will know how to answer." Meanwhile, Turkish troops backed by artillery, armour and helicopter gunships continued to consolidate their positions in northern Iraq.
